REQUEST: <br />This is a request to enter into an agreement with the University of Hawaii, Office of Research Services, for <br />GoFarm Hawaii, for $25,000.00, to conduct its comprehtnsive agricultural education program that includes <br />hands-on learning, business and technical assistance, access to land and business opportunities, and <br />community engagement to create opportunities and mentorship within the agricultural sector. <br />The appropriation is from Ordinance 24-32, AGRICULTURE 010.161.5161.22.115. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />GoFarm Hawaii is a project of the University of Hawaii -College of Tropical Agriculture and Human <br />Resources whose program is to provide science -based curriculum, including hands-on and business <br />training, and is open to all willing adults — to prepare those who were interested in farming with the <br />knowledge, experience, and confidence to contribute to Hawai`i's food security and economy as production <br />farmers. <br />The appropriation will be used for salaries, travel and supplies to conduct the trainings. <br />SIGNED: - DATE: March 24, 2025 <br />456p ' ment Head <br />
