In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />About the Workforce Advancement Initiative (WAI) Our Workforce Advancement Initiative (WAI) focuses on our role as a Work -Based Learning intermediary between <br />Kona's public schools and industry partners to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and career skills. This initiative addresses the needs of students in rural and <br />under-resourced areas by offering career awareness, exploration, preparation, and training. We create employer engagement & hands-on experiences in Career and <br />Technical Education (CTE) to enhance employability skills and prepare students for successful careers. Program activities for grades 6-12 include: Career fairs Guest <br />speakers Mock interviews Industry mentorship Job shadowing Internships <br />*47. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />'Ewalu Industries is a Hawai'i Island -based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering the next generation of young leaders in Hawaii. Our programs, rooted in local <br />values, provide youth and young professionals with mentorship, leadership skills, and opportunities to pursue high -impact career pathways. <br />*48, In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />Our Work -Based Learning (WBL) program is designed to bridge the gap between dassroom instruction and high -skill careers in rural & under-resourced areas of Kona. <br />We provide career awareness & exploration activities for grades 6-12, and tailored career preparation & training for high schoolers. The program creates employer <br />engagement & hands-on experiences in Career and Technical Education (CTE) to enhance employability skills and prepare students for successful careers. We leverage <br />partnerships with schools, local employers, and community organizations to provide WBL activities: guest speakers, mock interviews, career fairs, industry mentoring, <br />job shadowing, and internships. The program increases student engagement, develops soft & technical skills, fosters sustainable industry partnerships, and manages <br />60-120 hour, paid high school internships in various sectors. By addressing both student & employer needs, we aim to create lasting impact and establish pathways for <br />career readiness. <br />*49.
