COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAII <br />�rr'cG•N��+ <br />RESOLUTION NO. `�- <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAI`I <br />ISLAND FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS DEVELOPMENTAL PRESCHOOL. <br />WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawaii Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is <br />dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, <br />and dignity for all; and <br />WHEREAS, YWCA Developmental Preschool has been in existence for over 60 years, <br />providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for 90 children ages two through five; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, food and labor costs have increased significantly for the YWCA <br />Developmental Preschool, while overall funding opportunities have decreased, but it continues to <br />provide a safe space with nutritious meals and snacks to all its students to support working <br />families, regardless of their economic status; and <br />WHEREAS, the YWCA Developmental Preschool is requesting funds to help defray <br />expenses for the salaries of 20 support staff and for nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks for all <br />its students for the months of April through June 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and <br />drug -free environments; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawaii Island for expenses related to its <br />Developmental Preschool. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai` i hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
