COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 153 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE 2025 WAIAKEA HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT GRAD NIGHT. WHEREAS, the Waidkea High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists Waidkea High School and its students with programs and activities, including the Waidkea High School Project Grad Night; and WHEREAS, the Waidkea High School Project Grad Night provides a safe, secure, and supervised celebration alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve underage drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late -night partying that normally results in drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the students and community; and WHEREAS, Waidkea High School Project Grad Night is an alcohol- and drug -free event that provides the parents and families of the graduates with the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment after graduation; and WHEREAS, the Waidkea High School PTSA is requesting funds to assist Waidkea High School to defray the cost of facility rental, transportation, and food; and WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth programs that promote alcohol- and drug -free events, including Project Grad Night activities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waidkea High School PTSA for the 2025 Waidkea High School Project Grad Night. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
