JMZV OF k,�1 <br />tP'L •i <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />1rE OFN►.fir <br />RESOLUTION NO. �- 2► <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I <br />FOR THE 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN EAST HAWAI`I. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br />help youth make safe and responsible decisions to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, and <br />other risky situations that could impact their health and safety; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is coordinating a D.A.R.E. Day Celebration on May 20, <br />2025, at the Charles "Sparky" Kawamoto Swim Stadium to commemorate the graduation of <br />students from various schools in East Hawaii who have completed the 10-week Drug Abuse <br />Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds for food and refreshments, inflatable <br />water slides, and items for activities, games, and contests; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support <br />organizations, such as D.A.R.E. Hawaii, that promote alcohol -free and drug -free events that <br />teach youth to make safe and responsible choices; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration in <br />East Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
