In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project <br />Special Olympics West Hawaii's Regional Softball Tournament provides a platform for athletes to showcase their abilities. The event will offer lunches, snacks, fruit, <br />hydration, and awards to support the well-being of participants. This annual tournament brings together athletes, coaches, and volunteers from across the region, <br />fostering a sense of community and inclusion. <br />*51. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic -type sports for children and adults with <br />intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, <br />and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. <br />*52. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />Special Olympics West Hawaii organizes this regional softball tournament each year, serving the entire island. The organization is dedicated to providing year-round <br />sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This tournament will involve over 150 athletes, along with their coaches and volunteers, and is a key <br />event for community engagement and athlete participation. <br />*53, Please upload a completed CRF Grant Budget Form, <br />2025-04-09 Special Olympics Hawaii Budget.xlsx <br />Public Purpose of Requested Funds <br />Per §2-138 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the County may grant an award only if the proposed program or service provides direct public <br />benefits and fulfills a public purpose within the County. <br />54. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits <br />to be derived from your County fund request: <br />Needs of the poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities <br />*55. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds. <br />The outcomes for the Regional Softball Tournament include improved athlete performance in areas such as batting, running, and defense, as well as retention and <br />growth in athlete participation. We aim to engage the community through increased volunteer involvement and provide opportunities for coach and volunteer <br />development. Success will be measured through skill Improvement, participation rates, and community engagement levels. <br />*56.
