Of M,�Y <br />COUNTY OF HAWAVI •': STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />tJe'� Ni MOf �' <br />,rE•0F�H�'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SOCIETY FOR <br />KONA'S EDUCATION & ART FOR THE TERMITE TREATMENT OF ITS <br />HISTORICAL BUILDINGS. <br />WHEREAS, the Society for Kona's Education & Art (SKEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization and a vital community resource that provides for the well-being of South Kona <br />residents of all ages through various community programs, events, projects, and activities; and <br />WHEREAS, since its founding in 1981, SKEA has made its home at the old Japanese <br />Language School that was built in Honaunau, South Kona, in the early 1900s where SKEA <br />continues to host many community events; and <br />WHEREAS, SKEA is requesting funds for the termite treatment of its historically and <br />culturally significant buildings so that it may continue to provide a place for community <br />gatherings, workshops, and events; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports community -based <br />organizations that help to balance economic, social, community, health, and environmental <br />priorities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to the Society for Kona's Education & Art for the <br />termite treatment of its historical buildings. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
