COUNTY OF HAWAI`I -•• �" /_• STATE OF HAWAI'I F OFH.'� RESOLUTION NO. 199 25 A RESOLUTION AWARDING NINE STEWARDSHIP GRANTS FROM THE PUBLIC ACCESS, OPEN SPACE,AND NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION MAINTENANCE FUND AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,2026. WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 10-16 of the Charter of the County of Hawai`i (hereinafter"the Charter"),non-profit organizations may apply for and receive grant-in-aid funding out of the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance Fund for stewardship projects directly related to "public safety maintenance and preservation"of lands and easements acquired with the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-217 of the Hawai`i County Code,the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission(hereinafter"the Commission")reviewed twelve applications for stewardship grants and conducted interviews with grant applicants over two meetings held on November 18, 2024, and January 13, 2025; and WHEREAS, on April 9,2025,the Commission recommended to the Director of Finance that ten of the twelve stewardship applications be awarded grant funds; and WHEREAS,the Director of Finance recommends awarding nine stewardship grants, totaling$838,203.08,to seven non-profit organizations; and WHEREAS,the recommended grants, including recipients, fund amounts, and projects to be funded, are described in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; now,therefore, 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with Section 10-16(h) of the Charter,nine stewardship grants are hereby awarded to the non-profit organizations as set forth in Exhibit A, in the amounts and for the purposes identified therein.
