COUNTY OF HAWAI`I -•• �" /_• STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> F OFH.'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 199 25 <br /> A RESOLUTION AWARDING NINE STEWARDSHIP GRANTS FROM THE PUBLIC <br /> ACCESS, OPEN SPACE,AND NATURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION <br /> MAINTENANCE FUND AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE <br /> FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,2026. <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 10-16 of the Charter of the County of Hawai`i <br /> (hereinafter"the Charter"),non-profit organizations may apply for and receive grant-in-aid <br /> funding out of the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance <br /> Fund for stewardship projects directly related to "public safety maintenance and preservation"of <br /> lands and easements acquired with the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources <br /> Preservation Fund; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-217 of the Hawai`i County Code,the Public <br /> Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission(hereinafter"the <br /> Commission")reviewed twelve applications for stewardship grants and conducted interviews <br /> with grant applicants over two meetings held on November 18, 2024, and January 13, 2025; and <br /> WHEREAS, on April 9,2025,the Commission recommended to the Director of Finance <br /> that ten of the twelve stewardship applications be awarded grant funds; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Director of Finance recommends awarding nine stewardship grants, <br /> totaling$838,203.08,to seven non-profit organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS,the recommended grants, including recipients, fund amounts, and projects <br /> to be funded, are described in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; <br /> now,therefore, <br /> 1 <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br /> accordance with Section 10-16(h) of the Charter,nine stewardship grants are hereby awarded to <br /> the non-profit organizations as set forth in Exhibit A, in the amounts and for the purposes <br /> identified therein. <br />
