--1ZV of p <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I ( A4 *- STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> J.\ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 213 25 <br /> I <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL HIGHWAY <br /> ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) AND/OR THE STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, <br /> FOR A GRANT TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I. <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into an agreement with <br /> the United States Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and/or the State of <br /> Hawaii Department of Transportation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the U.S. FHWA has authorized $3,360,000 to be provided to <br /> the County of Hawaii for the Smart Intersection Demonstration Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation has <br /> authorized $840,000 to be provided to the County of Hawaii for the local cost <br /> share of this grant; and <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the Smart Intersection Demonstration Project is <br /> to implement and evaluate Al driven traffic solutions to improve road safety and <br /> reduce accidents at high-risk intersections; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the <br /> federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the <br /> powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers; now, therefore, <br />
