The Core Manning Team noted that overall the 2020 goals capture
the plan's intent, but the statements could be more specific and achievable,
Following comprehensive discussions, the group determined that a reassessment and revision of the existing
goals and objectives was necessary to achieve better alignment with community objectives and priorities. In
partnership with the Mitigation Working Group, a review was conducted, and the goals and objectives were
updated. This process involved a series of facilitated discussions and exercises, through which the working group
developed a refined set of goals and measurable objectives for the hazard mitigation plan.
Stakeholders were invited to participate by providing their individual suggestions and recommendations through
surveys, which were subsequently addressed in three Mitigation Working Group meetings. The newly established
goals and objectives in this updated plan are designed to complement each other effectively. Goals were selected
based on their relevance and connections to other planning efforts, while objectives were crafted to advance
multiple goals simultaneously. Additionally, a new goal was introduced to emphasize the importance of economic
protection. More detailed information regarding the evaluation of each goal can be found in Table 21-2.
