In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project <br />The 4th of July Block Party, hosted In Downtown Hilo, is a free, family -friendly community celebration that brings residents and visitors together to commemorate <br />Independence Day. The event features live performances, local vendors, and keikl activities spread throughout the historic downtown district Centered around the spirit <br />of community and cultural pride, the Block Party activates public spaces, encourages local commerce, and strengthens a sense of place by drawing hundreds of <br />attendees to enjoy a safe, festive environment. Funding will support essential event costs to ensure that the event remains free and open to the public. By highlighting <br />local talent and businesses, the Block Party boosts economic activity and builds community cohesion while celebrating our shared heritage. <br />*46.501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />Financially support the activities and events of the Hilo Downtown Improvement Association, whose goals are to protect, preserve, and create a vibrant downtown Hilo <br />for all to enjoy. <br />*47. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />The Hilo Downtown Improvement Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that financially supports the activities and events of the Hilo Downtown Improvement <br />Association (HDIA). The Foundation enables HDIA to carry out community -based programming such as the 4th of July Block Party. All funds raised or granted through the <br />Foundation go directly froward executing public events that fulfill HDIKs mission to protect, preserve, and create a vibrant downtown Hilo. <br />*48. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the interests in the following areas. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds. <br />With support from County funds, the 4th of July Block Party aims to deliver several meaningful and measurable outcomes for the Hilo community. The event is expected <br />to draw between 500 to 1,000 attendees, offering a safe, family -friendly celebration that strengthens community connections and civic pride. By activating the heart of <br />Downtown Hilo, the event encourages positive use of public spaces and supports the ongoing revitalization of the area. The Block Party will feature performances by at <br />least five performance groups, providing opportunities for community -based artists to share their talents while enriching the cultural fabric of the event. In addition, the <br />celebration will support economic activity by including at least 15 local vendors helping to promote and sustain the local economy. The event also includes keild and <br />'ohana-friendly activities designed to encourage intergenerational participation and provide accessible, inclusive fun for all ages. By offering free public entertainment <br />and opportunities for cultural expression and local commerce, the 4th of July Block Party contributes to the public welfare, economic vitality, and cultural richness of <br />Downtown Hilo. <br />*51.
