COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. �39 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br />KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE <br />39TH ANNUAL HAWAI`I KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL. <br />WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., (LCKCFI) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service <br />projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, is <br />coordinating with LCKCFI to host the 39th Annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival, which honors <br />and perpetuates the art of hula through our treasured kupuna; and <br />WHEREAS, hundreds of hula dancers will be participating in the 39th Annual Hawaii <br />Kupuna Hula Festival, which will be held on September 10-11, 2025, at the Outrigger Kona <br />Resort and Spa; and <br />WHEREAS, LCKCFI is requesting funds to cover lighting equipment rental expenses <br />for the 39th Annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival, which will serve a public purpose by <br />benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of culture and the arts; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community <br />Foundation, Inc., for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is <br />attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
