The building codes commission shall: <br />Review and evaluate proposed amendments to building electrical, plumbing and <br />fire codes originating from international and state code councils. <br />Recommend amendments to building -related codes for consideration by the <br />administration and council. <br />Advise the mayor, council and the director of building on building and <br />construction matters pursuant to law and this chapter. <br />Review the department's operations for the purpose of recommending <br />improvements to the director of building. <br />(c) Except for purposes of inquiry, neither the commission nor its members shall interfere in <br />anyway with the administrative affairs of the department." <br />SECTION 2. New charter material is underscored. When revising, compiling, or <br />printing these charter provisions for inclusion in the Charter of the County of Hawaii, the <br />revisor need not include the underscoring. <br />SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof <br />to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or <br />applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or <br />application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable. <br />SECTION 4. Upon adoption of this ordinance, this Council, by appropriate resolution, <br />shall provide that this amendment be submitted to the electorate of the County of Hawaii for <br />approval in the 2026 general election. <br />SECTION 5.
