In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project <br />In celebration of Big Island Dance Council's 50th Anniversary year, 2025, BIDC will host the first Invitational Dance Extravaganza 2.0. To inform and inspire the general <br />public about the range and quality of dance on the Big Island, it has invited eight studios from around the island and two invited guest performing groups who have <br />recently garnered national attention showcasing a hybrid genre which integrates Hawaiian and contemporary dance languages: Peter Rockford-Fspiritu's Tau Dance <br />Theater and Kea Kapahua's UH-Hilo Dance Ensemble. The project not only aspires to further the general public's knowledge and participation in dance, but to provide a <br />forum for collaboration and connection between the invited dance groups. The goal is that this performance will stimulate a more vibrant culture and arts and dance <br />community. <br />*47.501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />The mission of the Big Island Dance Council is to develop, foster and promote quaity dancing on the Big island and to contribute to the dance and movement education <br />of the community at large. <br />*48. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project <br />The Big Island Dance Council (BIDC) has been in existence serving the Big Island's dance needs for fifty years. It started the first Dance Extravaganza in 1976 and <br />sponsored and executed this popular exhibition of dance annually until 1991. It is in recognition of BIDCs long-term efforts to perpetuate the art the dance that the <br />organization wanted to bring back this celebration of dance through the showcasing of difference genres with dancers from children to adults to a new generation. Thus, <br />BIDC is integrally connected with this project since it is the creators and executors of the project <br />*49.
