It was formally opened to the public in June 2020 and has been widely used by youth and families until today. Based on the sumess of the Ola'a Skatepark
project, which was widely acknowledged in the skatepark community, the Hilo Skate Coalition (HSC) approached GCDG in 2023 to become the fiscal sponsor for the Hilo
Skatepark to be built across the Civic Center site. GCDG accepted this challenge and so would like to support the creation of skateboarding opportunities in Hilo. Although
funding for infrastructure for the Hilo Skatepark has been allocated by the County, the build -out Is years away and so the Installation of this donated ramp will be one
way of filling the void until the larger project can be completed.
*45.
