In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project Now in its 65th year, the Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade is the second oldest parade in the State of Hawaii and a cherished tradition in the North Hawaii community. Held annually on the first Saturday of December, this long-standing event brings members of the community together to express their gratitude, sense of joy, and appreciation during the holiday season. The parade marks the official start of the holidays in Waimea and provides a safe, festive, and family -friendly environment for residents and visitors alike. It is made possible through the dedication of a committed group of volunteers and the generous support of local sponsors. More than just a parade, the event embodies the spirit of community, celebrates shared values, and reinforces the cultural continuity that makes Waimea unique. *53.501(c)(3) Mission Statement Support education, health care, and activities that foster a sense of place, belonging, and community cohesion rooted in the diverse and unique culture of Waimea. *54. The goal is always to provide a fun and safe event We work hard to make sure that the public Is aware of the road closures, and that traffic doesn't back up too badly. We have rules that help keep everyone safe, and plenty of volunteers to keep tabs on everything. The police help keep the roads safe, and the road closures to have minimum affect. *58.
