In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum (PLZM) respectfully requests $7,000 to fund the purchase and installation of a code - <br />compliant fire suppression system for its new commercial kitchen facility located near Pahoa, Hawaii. This essential <br />infrastructure is a critical safety requirement that will allow the kitchen to become fully operational, serving the needs <br />of local nonprofits, farmers, and small-scale meat producers. <br />* 46.5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum aims to educate visitors about the geological wonders of Hawaii, specifically the impact <br />of volcanic activity on the Puna region, and to foster a sense of community stewardship for these culturally and <br />environmentally sensitive areas. It also seeks to support the local economy by promoting sustainable tourism and <br />cultural engagement. <br />* 47. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 5O1(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is spearheading the development of the community commercial <br />kitchen to support local food sustainability and economic recovery in Puna. As the lead organization, PLZM is managing <br />project coordination, fundraising, and compliance, and will act as the kitchen's fiscal and operational steward. This <br />initiative aligns with PLZM's mission to preserve and uplift the cultural, historical, and economic resilience of the <br />region. The project is being developed in partnership with various nonprofits, including Malama 0 Puna, which is <br />implementing a County of Hawaii -directed 4-Point Feral Pig Plan. The kitchen will provide vital infrastructure to <br />support this program's processing and distribution goals. <br />*48.
