The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum (PLZM) respectfully requests $7,000 to fund the purchase and installation of a code - compliant fire suppression system for its new commercial kitchen facility located near Pahoa, Hawaii. This essential infrastructure is a critical safety requirement that will allow the kitchen to become fully operational, serving the needs of local nonprofits, farmers, and small-scale meat producers. * 46.5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum aims to educate visitors about the geological wonders of Hawaii, specifically the impact of volcanic activity on the Puna region, and to foster a sense of community stewardship for these culturally and environmentally sensitive areas. It also seeks to support the local economy by promoting sustainable tourism and cultural engagement. * 47. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 5O1(c)(3) is connected to the project. The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is spearheading the development of the community commercial kitchen to support local food sustainability and economic recovery in Puna. As the lead organization, PLZM is managing project coordination, fundraising, and compliance, and will act as the kitchen's fiscal and operational steward. This initiative aligns with PLZM's mission to preserve and uplift the cultural, historical, and economic resilience of the region. The project is being developed in partnership with various nonprofits, including Malama 0 Puna, which is implementing a County of Hawaii -directed 4-Point Feral Pig Plan. The kitchen will provide vital infrastructure to support this program's processing and distribution goals. *48.
