PCENRM-2 Page 2 August 19, 2025
party to this decision -making. We have a lot of work to do regarding land stewardship and this is
pointing us in that direction.
Committee Member Michelle Galimba commented, the word desecration is a religous concept and
we don't all have the same religion. Desecration is more in line with cultrual sites. she would prefer it
be more scientific, something like contamination. The bombing is not acceptable.
Committee Member Ashley Kierkiewicz commented that what we heard today was that we are all
tired of the military industrial complex and all of what that brings. We do not, as a State, want to be
known for that. Although the County does not have jurisdiction, it is a community issue. The
resolution very succinctly elevates longstanding environmental concerns.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba asked Corporation Counsel if there were any legal concerns
or questions regarding this resolution. Corporation Counsel Renee Schoen responded by saying she
did not find an issue or legal concerns with the resolution as written.
The overall discussion of other Committee Members was in support and agreement that action needs to
be taken now.
Your Committee on Environmental and Natural Resource Management is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 234-25, and recommends its adoption.
ca
AYES
NOES
ABS
EX
GALIMBA
X
HUSTACE
X
INABA
X
KAGIWADA
X
KANEALI'I -
KLEINFELDER
X
KIERKIEWICZ
X
KIMBALL
X
ONISHI
X
VILLEGAS
X
Respectfully submitted,
i
REBECCA VILLEGAS, CHAIR
PCENRM REPORT NO.: 2
ADOPTED: SEP 3 '2025
