56. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund
request:
Culture and the arts
57. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these
funds.
The main measurable outcomes we hope to achieve is the number of public visitors/spectators attending the event and
the number of participants taking part in activities. The celebration includes a recognition ceremony, honoring surviving
Sakadas and their descendants. Various exhibits will showcase Filipino artifacts, traditional clothing, and cultural
heritage. An arts and crafts demonstration will highlight traditional Filipino craftsmanship. Also featured are cultural
performances with groups from across the island celebrating Filipino culture. Food and beverages are offered at no cost
to participants and guests. The more people we can get to take part in the Celebration, the more we are able to
increase awareness of historical plantation legacy, honor our Sakadas and their descendants, and build community
through group festivities.
