eJ�tY OF H,�9 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />rf oF�N►� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2'23 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KONA HISTORICAL <br />SOCIETY TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE HAWAI`I ISLAND BEEKEEPER <br />LEGACY PROJECT'S RANCHING ROOTS AND AGRICULTURAL FUTURES <br />EXHIBIT. <br />WHEREAS, Kona Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to preserve the history of Kona to enrich, inspire, and inform community and visitors <br />through collecting, preserving, researching, interpreting, and disseminating the history of Kona; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of <br />projects, materials, and events that increase cooperation, innovation, and sustainability within the <br />local food system; and <br />WHEREAS, Ranching Roots and Agricultural Futures, a traveling museum exhibit and <br />original documentary produced by the Hawaii Island Beekeeper Legacy Project in partnership <br />with Kona Historical Society, celebrates Hawai`i's beekeeping history and its vital connection to <br />agriculture; and <br />WHEREAS, Kona Historical Society is requesting funds to cover expenses for design <br />and printing of historical images, historical research, and purchasing seed packets, which will <br />serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of culture and the <br />arts, as well as educational concerns; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Kona Historical Society for the <br />expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
