COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 323 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII FARMERS <br />UNION FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE 2025 HAWAII <br />FARMERS UNION CONVENTION. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Farmers Union Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to advocate for the sovereign rights of family farmers, ranchers, and fishers to <br />create regenerative and sustainable agricultural communities that benefit the people of Hawaii <br />through education, cooperation, and legislation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports development of <br />projects, materials, and events that increase cooperation, innovation, and sustainability within the <br />local food system; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2025 Hawaii Farmers Union Convention will bring growers from across <br />the state together to share knowledge, build stronger networks, and advance real solutions to <br />challenges faced in the agricultural sector; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Farmers Union Foundation is requesting funds to cover expenses <br />for food for participants and leadership, event signage, and printed educational materials, which <br />will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of culture and <br />the arts, as well as educational concerns, and the public health and welfare of the people and the <br />environment; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hawaii Farmers Union <br />Foundation for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached <br />hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
