COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 339 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET <br />INC. FOR ITS KOKUA HARVEST FRUIT STANDS PROJECT IN COUNCIL <br />DISTRICT 6. <br />WHEREAS, The Food Basket Inc. (TFB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is simply to end hunger in Hawaii County, and seeks to support this mission through its <br />K6kua Harvest Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the K6kua Harvest Program plans to implement, manage, and maintain at <br />least three fruit stands in Council District 6, a project that aims to increase access to fresh, locally <br />sourced produce, support community connection and resilience, and provide healthier, free food <br />options for residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports collaboration, <br />innovation, resource development, and programmatic sustainability throughout the food system; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, TFB is requesting funds to help defray the cost of building materials, <br />supplies and labor for fruit stands, signs, gas mileage for produce delivery, and text notification <br />services for the participants of the K6kua Harvest Fruit Stands Project in Council District 6 <br />which will serve a public purpose benefiting, improving, or promoting educational concerns, the <br />needs of the poor, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, and the public health <br />and welfare of the people and the environment; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket Inc. for the <br />expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
