52. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund
request:
Culture and the arts
53. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these
funds.
The 29th Annual KWXX Ho'olaulda will deliver measurable cultural, economic, and community outcomes that align
with the County's goal of supporting public benefit through arts and cultural programming. This free, public event is
expected to attract approximately 20,000 attendees, providing open access to live Hawaiian and contemporary
entertainment in a safe and family -friendly environment. More than 20 performances by local musicians, halau hula,
and artists will be presented across four stages, promoting the preservation and visibility of Hawaii s cultural heritage.
The event will also provide vendor opportunities for an estimated 50 local food and craft businesses, generating direct
economic activity and supporting small, locally owned enterprises. In addition, over 150 performers and staff will
receive professional opportunities, contributing to the sustainability of Hawaii Island's creative economy. Collectively,
these outcomes will enhance community engagement, strengthen cultural identity, and stimulate economic activity
within Downtown Hilo, ensuring that County funds support a program that delivers tangible and inclusive public
benefits to residents and visitors alike.
