GUIEN OPRINCIPLES £t <br />REVITALIiAtION THEMES <br />I <br />Guiding Principles and Revitalization Themes are based on engagements with Pohoiki <br />area 'ohana. They are intended to ground the entire process - from planning and <br />design to construction and stewardship - and provide focus around what is needed to <br />protect and preserve'aina, support needs of community including fishing, surfing, and <br />connecting, and sustain resources for future generations. <br />Resounding public sentiments expressed the need for everyone utilizing this space to <br />"leave it better than when you arrive," to "give back and not just take," and to <br />intentionally "allow time for the'aina to rest" so that it may heal. <br />12 <br />
