RE; <br />PROVIDE I <br />Infrastructure <br />Restore and provide infrastructure facilities in service of recreation, education, community - <br />based monitoring, and management, as well as boat access. <br />The Department of Water Supply is coordinating with the Department of Public Works to <br />restore water to Pohoiki along Pohoiki Road to service the park, boat ramp, and <br />neighboring properties. <br />Improvements to Isaac Kepo'okalani Hale Beach Park that were discussed as part of in - <br />person and online engagement include: <br />• A pavilion similar to the one that was at Harry K. Brown Park for events and community <br />education <br />• Covered or shaded areas for gatherings near the water with BBQ pits to encourage <br />family gatherings and community connection <br />• Designated spaces for keiki and 'ohana to camp, "rewild" and enhance pilina <br />(connection to place) <br />• Places for keiki and kopuna to safely access the ocean for swimming <br />• Explore alternative, environmentally conscious solutions for bathroom facilities closer to <br />the water <br />• Restore Highway 137 from Kalapana to Pohoiki - a project the Department of Public <br />Works has committed to doing with federal disaster recovery monies. <br />• Improve cell and radio communications <br />• Identify and install traffic calming measures such as speed humps/tables to increase <br />road safety <br />• Explore opportunities for police and first responders to have a greater presence in the <br />area <br />• Restored boat access at the ramp should include water for boat washing and separation <br />of runoff <br />22 <br />
