In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />The Kohala Center, Inc., (hereinafter the "The Kohala Center', in partnership with Kahilu Theatre, will host a <br />community gathering featuring the first -ever screening of"Keeper of the Bay" in Kohala. Nominated for the 54th <br />annual Northern California Area Emmy Award, this documentary highlights Aunty Cindi Punihaole, a treasured <br />community member of Kona and director at The Kohala Center for almost 20 years. Directed by Ashley LoFaso and co - <br />produced by LoFaso and Dear Ocean, Keeper of the Bay chronicles Aunty Cindi s lifelong commitment to saving the <br />coral reefs of Kahalu'u Bay, honoring her family's legacy through a blend of Indigenous knowledge, science, and the <br />spirit of aloha %ina. A story of aloha, kuleana, and hope, this soul -stirring film lifts her voice, raising awareness <br />worldwide and inspiring global action. The screening of the documentary will take place on January 11, 2026, at 2:00 <br />p.m. The event is designed not only to honor Aunty Cindi's legacy but also to ignite a movement that inspires, <br />educates, and empowers the community to protect the natural resources of Kohala that sustain all. The Kohala Center <br />aims to unite elected officials, community leaders, educators, and environmental advocates to build partnerships that <br />inspire and empower keiki to become the next generation of'aina protectors. <br />* 52. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />H'anai pilina, to respectfully engage the Island of Hawal'l. <br />* 53. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />Aunty Cindi Punihaole, a kama'aina of Kona, has worked with The Kohala Center for nearly 20 years, dedicating her <br />efforts to protecting Kahalu'u Bay and restoring it to a state of pono. Kahalu u Bay is a vital nursery for fish and other <br />marine life along the Kona-Kohala Coast, contributing to the ecological, economic, and cultural sustainability of North <br />and West Hawai'i. The event will include a question and answer and talk -story session with Aunty Cindi and The <br />Kohala Center team after the film, as well as information about The Kohala Center and the intended impact of its work <br />in North Hawai'i and beyond. One desired outcome is to inspire attendees to support The Kohala Center's work, <br />especially by volunteering, which helps the organization continue to build a passionate community that can increase <br />resilience across all'aina. <br />* 54.
