i
54. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund
request,
Culture and the arts
55. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these
funds.
The event is organized to celebrate, honor, preserve, and share North Kohala's cultural heritage, highlighting Hawaiian
history and recognizing the host culture. It is designed to engage approximately 5,000 participants through a full day
of activities, including the traditional morning protocol at the statue, a floral parade along Akoni Pule Highway, and a
Ho'olaule'a featuring music, local foods, arts and crafts, and educational exhibits. The event will involve at least 200
community volunteers, fostering civic engagement and cultural participation. The effectiveness of the event will be
measured by the successful execution of all planned activities and festivities. Attendance will be tracked using various
methods, including crowd -counting clickers, to quantify participation by residents and visitors. These measures will
help ensure that the event continues to serve as a meaningful cultural celebration, strengthening community
connections and preserving North Kohala's heritage for future generations.
