t'IOi::'•.1 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4 s G 2G <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF A PRE -TRAINED NARCOTICS <br />CANINE AND ASSOCIATED HANDLER TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION TO THE <br />HAWAPI POLICE DEPARTMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County of Hawaii <br />(hereinafter "the Charter") provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts <br />of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in <br />real estate'; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of <br />money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council"; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island K9 Association, a non-profit entity, wishes to bestow a <br />donation of a pre -trained narcotics canine and associated handler training and certification to the <br />Hawaii Police Department with an estimated total value of approximately $31,000.00, and <br />WHEREAS, this donation will be utilized by the Hawaii Police Department's Canine <br />Program on the west side of Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department is grateful for this donation and <br />recommends its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore, <br />
