SY OI <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 48-1 2G <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF FOOTWEAR AND REUSABLE <br />BAGS FOR THE HAWAI`I FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Article XIIl, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County of Hawaii <br />(hereinafter "the Charter") provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts <br />of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in <br />real estate'; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of <br />money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council'; and <br />WHEREAS, OluKai Retail, LLC, wishes to donate two hundred seven (207) pairs of <br />footwear, which have an estimated total value of approximately $15,000, and one hundred fifty <br />(150) reusable bags, which have an estimated total value of approximately $1,500, to the Hawaii <br />Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, this footwear will offer secure footing and durable protection in challenging <br />ocean and island environments and is specifically designed for beach lifeguards; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department is grateful for this donation and recommends <br />its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, <br />pursuant to Section 13-12 of the Charter and Section 2-162 of the Code, the donation from <br />OluKai Retail, LLC, hereinabove described is hereby accepted. <br />
