COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 486 26 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE 2026 OUTSTANDING OLDER <br />AMERICANS MONTH AWARD LUNCHEON. <br />WHEREAS, May is recognized as Older Americans Month (OAM), a time to celebrate <br />and honor the contributions that seniors have made and continue to make in our community and <br />our nation; and <br />WHEREAS, OAM dates back to 1963 when President John F. Kennedy, through a <br />proclamation, designated May as Senior Citizens Month, which was later renamed Older <br />Americans Month; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Aging, as the designated Area Agency on Aging, represents <br />the County of Hawaii in the planning, coordination, advocacy, and administration of programs <br />that enable older people to live independently and with dignity; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon is an event sponsored by <br />the Office of Aging, which honors the adults who contribute and make a difference in their <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Aging is requesting funds for venue expenses relating to the <br />2026 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon scheduled to occur on May 8, 2026; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging for <br />the 2026 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
