COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF GRANT FUNDS AND OTHER IN - <br />KIND DONATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR <br />THE LINCOLN PARK TENNIS COURTS AND EDITH KANAKA'OLE MULTI- <br />PURPOSE STADIUM. <br />WHEREAS, Article X111, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County of Hawaii <br />(hereinafter "the Charter") provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts <br />of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in <br />real estate"; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br />(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of <br />money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the <br />department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council"; and <br />WHEREAS, United States Tennis Association (hereinafter "USIA"), a non-profit entity, <br />wishes to donate a financial grant and other in -kind support for tennis court resurfacing and <br />SmartAccess entry system installation at Lincoln Park in Hilo and for SmartAccess entry system <br />installation at Edith Kanaka'ole Multi -Purpose Stadium, with a total estimated value of <br />approximately $160,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, SmartAccess is a proprietary entry and booking management system used <br />to manage tennis court usage, reservations, and authorized access; and <br />WHEREAS, this generous donation benefits the community through the improvement of <br />the County's recreational facilities, thereby encouraging physical activity and promoting public <br />health and welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is grateful for this donation and <br />recommends its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore, <br />
