Project End DMm <br />08/02/2026 1 <br />implemented. <br />Relief Funds. <br />This exhibition, the largest celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act in Hawai'i, will be curated in collaboration <br />with Abled Hawai'i Artists (AHA) and feature artists with physical and/or cognitive disabilities from across the islands. <br />For 18 years, AHA has empowered more than 20,000 people by advancing access, recognition, and income for <br />disabled artists, This juried exhibition will present established artists alongside emerging artists mentored by AHA for <br />professional exhibition. The show will be open statewide and will include portraiture exploring disability journeys — <br />spotlighting both contemporary artists and historical figures with disabilities. The Wailoa Center will be transformed <br />into 10 immersive bays, alternating between curated displays and interactive installations that offer sensory <br />experiences that reflect specific disabilities. Planned elements include tactile works for blind and low -vision audiences, <br />vibration -based pieces for deaf and hard -of -hearing communities, calming low -light spaces for sensory -sensitive <br />visitors, wheelchair -accessible installations, and explorations of mental health and psychiatric disabilities. Curatorial <br />guidance from Halena Kapuni-Reynolds and community partners will support specialized committees for each area. <br />This ative advances Hawai'i Island's Renaissance of Inclusion movement, grounded in the belief that art must be <br />accessible to and reflective of every body and mind. Throughout July, programming will extend beyond the gallery <br />through collaborative art days, nonprofit resource booths, the 19th Annual Art Festival, a "Walk and Talk" dialogue <br />with a historical slideshow, and demonstrations of adaptive techniques. The final week will spotlight Queer Disabled <br />Artists. With nearly one in five adults in Hawaii living with a disability, this exhibition celebrates inclusion, creativity, <br />and opportunity —supporting disabled artists in building sustainable, visible, and thriving careers. <br />To empower people with developmental disabilities to achieve and enjoy self -determined lives, supporting lifelo <br />belonging and fulfillment within the Hawai'i Island community. i <br />ARM= <br />Full Life serves as the project's 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, providing financial oversight, grant compliance, and <br />administrative accountability to ensure funds are managed in alignment with charitable standards. The project is <br />curated and implemented by Abled Hawai'i Artists (AHA), whose 18-year history of inclusive exhibitions, mentorship, <br />and disability -centered arts programming forms the foundation of this initiative. AHA leads artist outreach, selection, <br />exhibition design, accessibility integration, public programming, and evaluation. Through this partnership, Full Life <br />ensures fiduciary stewardship, while AHA advances its mission to expand access, recognition, and income for artists <br />with disabilities statewide. <br />* 52.
