COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />e.;; <br />1Tr O% Mrs <br />RESOLUTION NO. 540 2G <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT TO <br />PURCHASE MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY COMMUNITY <br />POLICING AND HI -PAL. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department is committed to providing the highest <br />quality of police service and forming partnerships with the community to make Hawaii Island a <br />safe place to live, visit, and conduct business; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department's Community Policing program is <br />responsible for developing partnerships within the community to create a safe and secure <br />environment through community mobilization, crime prevention efforts, and community <br />programs; and <br />WHEREAS, Community Policing is requesting funds for two smart TVs, two TV wall <br />mounts, a Bluetooth speakerphone, and a freezer refrigerator, which will serve a public purpose <br />by enhancing public safety operations, supporting youth programming, and improving <br />organizational efficiency; and <br />WHEREAS, III -PAL (Hawai`i Isle Police Activities League) is a community youth <br />program under the Hawaii Police Department that provides social and athletic activities for <br />Hawaii Island youth to promote a spirit of sportsmanship, benevolence, friendship, sociability, <br />goodwill, and tolerance; and <br />WHEREAS, HI -PAL is requesting funds for a scoreboard, cooler, two portable speakers, <br />three toolboxes, and a pop-up tent, which will serve a public purpose by providing recreation for <br />Hawaii Island youth, developing a friendly relationship between youths and police, and <br />cultivating moral and civic standards for youths in our community; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Police <br />Department to purchase miscellaneous equipment for use by Community Policing and HI -PAL. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
