COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 54:1 2G A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI°I FOR ITS 2026 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN WEST HAWAI`I. WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to teaching elementary, middle, and high school students how to make responsible decisions to help lead a safe and healthy life; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting a West Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate the graduation of West Hawaii students from fifth through eighth grades who complete the 10- week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 19, 2026; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and drug -free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day celebrations; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to purchase snacks for the 2026 D.A.R.E. Day celebration, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting public health and welfare of the people and the environment, the needs of the poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, victims of health or social crises, educational concerns, and the interests of culture and the arts of our island; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI°I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
