COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 54:1 2G <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI°I <br />FOR ITS 2026 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN WEST HAWAI`I. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to <br />teaching elementary, middle, and high school students how to make responsible decisions to help <br />lead a safe and healthy life; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting a West Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate <br />the graduation of West Hawaii students from fifth through eighth grades who complete the 10- <br />week Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 19, 2026; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and <br />drug -free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day celebrations; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to purchase snacks for the 2026 <br />D.A.R.E. Day celebration, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or <br />promoting public health and welfare of the people and the environment, the needs of the poor, <br />youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, victims of health or social crises, <br />educational concerns, and the interests of culture and the arts of our island; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI°I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the expenses and <br />purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by <br />reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
