In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />This event honors and celebrates the students in 5th and 6th Grade from West Hawari who have successfully <br />completed a rigorous 10-week D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) curriculum, taught by certified D.A.R.E.- <br />trained police officers. <br />*44. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />D.A.R.E. Hawari is committed to supporting the law enforcement officers and military police in the State of Hawai'i <br />with materials and incentives for conducting classes annually to elementary, middle, and high school students, with <br />the purpose of teaching our keiki to make safe and responsible decisions to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, <br />and other risky situations to lead a safe and healthy life. <br />*45. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />D.A.R.E. Hawari was established to support students and D.A.R.E. police officers in implementing the D.A.R.E. <br />program. Aside from classroom instruction, many drug -free community activities are held throughout the year for <br />students and their families. D.A.R.E. Hawari provides training, activity planning/coordination, and funding for these <br />activities, which further the message to youth to continue to make good choices and to live drug -free. <br />*46. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the <br />interests in the following areas.
