O�tY OF�; <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII *: " r=•1 STATE OF HAWAII <br /> OFrNF <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 577 26 <br /> (DRAFT 2) <br /> A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE RULES OF PROCEDURE AND ORGANIZATION <br /> OF THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I BY ADDING A RULE <br /> RELATING TO NATIVE HAWAIIAN LAW TRAINING. <br /> WHEREAS, on December 2,2024,the Council of the County of Hawai`i(hereinafter, <br /> the"Council")adopted the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the Council of the County of <br /> Hawai`i(hereinafter,the"Rules")as provided in Resolution No. 3-25 to govern the affairs of the <br /> Council; and <br /> WHEREAS,Rule No. 16-1 provides,in part,that the Rules"may be amended at a <br /> regular Council meeting by a resolution approved by an affirmative majority vote of the entire <br /> membership of the Council"; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Council finds that adding a new rule relating to Native Hawaiian law <br /> training bears consideration;now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that the <br /> Rules are hereby amended by adding a rule to be appropriately inserted and to read as follows: <br /> "RULE NO._ <br /> NATIVE HAWAIIAN LAW TRAINING <br /> 1. Within twenty-four months of taking office, each Council Member shall enroll in <br /> and complete the training course administered by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs <br /> under the Hawaii Revised Statutes, section 10-42,relating to Native Hawaiian and <br /> Hawaiian traditional and customary rights,natural resources and access rights, and <br /> the public trust. <br /> 2. This rule does not apply to any Council Member who ha completed this training <br /> previously,whether in a private or public capacity. <br /> 3. The Council Chairperson shall maintain a record of Council Members who have <br /> completed this training." <br />
