Public Purpose of Requested Funds <br /> Per§2-138 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the County may grant an award only if <br /> the proposed program or service provides direct public benefits and fulfills a public purpose within the County. <br /> * <br /> 47.According to§2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to,improvement of,or promotion of the <br /> interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund <br /> request: <br /> Culture and the arts <br /> Needs of the poor,youth,the aged,those with physical or emotional disabilities <br /> * <br /> 48. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these <br /> funds. <br /> Funds will produce measurable access, participation, and economic outcomes aligned with the Americans with <br /> Disabilities Act. Access Outcomes: Produce 100+ Braille and large-print programs to ensure equitable access to <br /> exhibitions. Provide 40 hours of American Sign Language interpretation (4 key events x 5 hours x 2 interpreters)to <br /> guarantee full participation for deaf attendees. Design and implement 6+ accessible exhibition bays at the Wailoa <br /> Center, each incorporating disability-responsive design elements (tactile, vibration-based, low-sensory, wheelchair- <br /> accessible, and mental health-informed environments).Artist&Economic Outcomes: Exhibit 25+ disabled artists <br /> statewide through a juried process. Provide professional mentorship to at least 5 emerging artists. Generate direct <br /> artist income through stipends, sales opportunities, and festival participation. Community Impact Outcomes: <br /> Engage 400+visitors during the month-long exhibition and public programs. Host 4+ public events, including artist <br /> talks and demonstrations. Collect participant surveys to measure satisfaction, perceived accessibility, and <br /> professional impact.Together,these outcomes increase visibility, remove structural barriers, and expand <br /> sustainable career pathways for disabled artists across Hawai'i. <br />
