In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br /> The Hawaii International Science Experience (HISE) is an annual 5-day science and culture program designed and <br /> hosted by high school student leaders on Hawai'i Island.The program brings together students from across Hawaii <br /> Island and invites international schools to participate in collaborative science learning experiences that highlight <br /> innovation, sustainability, and the island's unique environmental and cultural resources.The 2026 program will take <br /> place July 19-23. During this event, participants engage in hands-on science workshops,field-based learning <br /> experiences, collaborative problem-solving projects, and discussions with professionals working in Science,` <br /> Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics(STEM) and environmental fields. Students will travel island-wide to <br /> explore its diverse ecosystems and scientific research environments.Activities introduce participants to current <br /> scientific advances, sustainability innovations, and STEM career pathways while strengthening collaboration <br /> between schools and communities across the island.All Hawaii Island Department of Education high schools, as <br /> well as several charter and private schools, have been invited to participate. The public purpose served by this <br /> program is educational. HISE expands access to experiential STEM education for students and provides <br /> opportunities to interact with professionals, explore careers, and build collaborative skills.The program also fosters <br /> global collaboration by connecting local students with international peers, strengthening our students'confidence in <br /> the world.This program strengthens the STEM education ecosystem by creating direct connections between <br /> students, educators, and professionals working in science. With students from multiple schools, HISE expands <br /> inter-school relations and collaboration.The program supports the development of future leaders while reinforcing <br /> Hawai'i Island as a place where education, research, and stewardship of natural resources intersect. <br /> *44. 5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement <br /> Help youth embrace the challenges of an interconnected world by providing opportunities to broaden their <br /> perspective of the world,foster relationships, and cultivate leadership skills. <br /> *45.
