During this event, participants engage in hands-on science workshops,field-based learning
experiences, collaborative problem-solving projects, and discussions with professionals working in Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics(STEM) and environmental fields. Students will travel island-wide to
explore its diverse ecosystems and scientific research environments. Activities introduce participants to current
scientific advances, sustainability innovations, and STEM career pathways while strengthening collaboration
between schools and communities across the island. All Hawai'i Island Department of Education high schools, as
well as several charter and private schools, have been invited to participate. This program strengthens the STEM education ecosystem by creating direct connections between
students, educators, and professionals working in science. With students from multiple schools, HISE expands
inter-school relations and collaboration. The program supports the development of future leaders while reinforcing
Hawaii Island as a place where education, research, and stewardship of natural resources intersect.
*44. 5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement
Help youth embrace the challenges of an interconnected world by providing opportunities to broaden their
perspective of the world, foster relationships, and cultivate leadership skills.
*45.
