<br /> IV. REPORTS <br /> A. Executive Committee Reports <br /> President Mansho presented a brief oral report of a meeting with Governor <br /> Cayetano and the members of the HSAC Executive Committee on December 27, <br /> 1996. The purpose of the meeting with the Governor was to discuss the mutual <br /> concerns of the counties and their priorities. Attending this meeting were President <br /> Mansho, Vice President Nakamura, Secretary-Treasurer Smith, Kauai Alternate <br /> Tehada and Council Chair Thronas. <br /> President Mansho indicated that the Governor was very receptive and used the <br /> meeting to share with the attendees information about the state's short fall, his <br /> thoughts on raising the General Excise Tax and possibly the Transit <br /> Accommodations Tax, the promotion of CIP projects on all of the islands, <br /> discussions on agriculture and diversified agriculture support, the OHA ceded lands <br /> claims, and ideas on how to encourage business. President Mansho also reported <br /> that the Governor was very open to having quarterly meetings with HSAC <br /> Representatives. <br /> B. County Reports <br /> A County report from James Y. Arakaki, Council Chair, Hawaii County, to <br /> President Mansho, dated January 3, 1997, regarding HSAC Executive Committee <br /> Matters was recieved and placed on file. <br /> C. NACo Reports <br /> There were no NACo Reports. <br /> D. WIR Reports <br /> There were no WIR Reports. <br /> V.
