Supp, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of
Hilo, is on the mainland at the present time attending our Boys & Girls Clubs of
America's National Convention, I am taking this opportunity to write to you.
As you know, we have been operating in Hawaii County since 1952 as an all-boy
organization. In 1988, the organization opened membership to girls and officially
changed its name to the Boys & Girls Club of Hilo.
In November, 1996, we started a satellite at the Lanakila Housing Complex. We
have set up a computer lab and will do a Smart Moves program at the center. This
summer, we will transport (Club van) the Lanakila housing members to our main
building at 100 Kamakahonu Street for participation in our summer activities.
Councilman Arakaki, we are appealing to you and members of the County
Council for your support in funding the Boys & Girls Club of Hilo. We appreciate very
much your past assistance in supporting the youth of our County through the Boys and
Girls Club of Hilo, providing them with a "Positive Place For Kids", regardless of race,
color, creed or economic levels.
Thanks again for your kokua and continued support. If you have any questions,
please call me at (808) 961-5536.
Sincerely,
~ >"a /93. zs
Patsy T m hiro
Adminis five Assistant ]R1.
