MENTAL <br /> HELP <br /> HAwAii <br /> HAWAII ISLAND SERVICES <br /> Mental Help Hawaii was incorporated in 1973 as a nonprofit agency providing sen~ices <br /> for persons recovering from serious mental illnesses. Mental Help Hawaii uses County, <br /> State, Federal, United Way and other charitable funds to serve u+ore than 200 persons a <br /> year in need of such services wt the Island of Hawaii. Mental Help Hawaii is conunitted <br /> [o assisting people toward independent living through the following programs. <br /> I1IL0 HALE 208 Wainaku Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720 (808) 935-7167 <br /> This residential facility opened in 1991 under the auspices of Mental Help Hawaii to serve <br /> Hawaii Island residents who have psychiatric disabilities. Residential staff provide 24 hour <br /> supervised living services to 8 residents at a time. Social rehabilitation services are <br /> provided for up to six months, with the goal to enable clients to move on to more <br /> independent housing. ' <br /> HALE LEHUA 360 Lehua St., Hilo, HI 96720 (808) 961-2054 <br /> Located around the corner from Hilo Hale, Hale Lehua has served as a natural supportive <br /> housing resource for graduates of Hilo Hale. Hale Lehua was leased in January 1995 for <br /> this purpose. Staff support services are available on site and on call. Start up funding was <br /> provided through charitable grants. <br /> KE WAENA 479 Kinoole St., Hilo, HI 96720 (808) 934-9435 <br /> This activity center was opened in August 1995 to address the need for a place for persons <br /> with mental illness to go during the day of the social, recreational and educational <br /> activities. Community Care Services provided start up funds for Ke Waena. <br /> CARE COORDINATION SERVICES (808) 934-821G <br /> Eligible clients from Hawaii Island Community Care Services (CCS) receive case <br /> management services through this project.
