Councilroom <br /> TIME 9.05 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 9 and attached Bill No. 3, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Bill No. 3 is to amend Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 <br /> Editton), relating to Vehicles and Traffic by deleting an existing bus stop and passenger loading <br /> zone, and adding a new no parking zone on Kealaka`a Street located in North Kona. <br /> Communication No. 9 is from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro Sumada, dated November 13, 2000, <br /> <br /> transmitting Bill No. 3 for the Council's review and consideration. Mr. Sumada states the <br /> request to remove the bus stop and passenger loading zone was made by the Pnncipal of <br /> Kealakehe Elementary School, Ms Nancy Matsukawa. According to Mr Sumada, there is also <br /> a need to pro}ubit parking along a section of Kealaka`a Street near a horizontal curve with <br /> limited sight distance <br /> At the request of Chair Elarionoff, the Department of Public Works transmitted to the commmee <br /> a letter from Ms. Matsukawa requesting the removal of both the bus stop and passenger loading <br /> zone. A letter finm Assistant Police Chuef Lawrence K. Mahuna m support of Bill No. 3 was <br /> <br /> also receivedandcirculated.
