OJP lgmpmrnt Otant POC
Page 4
January 25, 2001
long boards The sked stretcher can thrn be srnt back Into the hot zone for uhli7ahon by the entry
team to remove more patients. The long boazded patients will then be sent through the
decontamination process on the decontamination roller system.
The HEPA vacuum will be used to capture dispersed chemical and biological dusts, powders or
liquids Situations have occurred in previous tnctdrnts where the presence of a HEPA vacuum
would have allowed for cleaner, safer and more effective mitigation The unit's iinique filtration
system will reduce, or eliminate the dispersal of the hazardous agents not accomplished by
normal vacuuming The unit can collect minute particles of hazardous agrnts and prevent the
release of those agents with remarkable efficiency by passing through vanous stages of filtration
This will allow us to mitigate the situation without creating a more hazazdotis atmosphere, as may
occur with the use of a standazd vacuum. This pnnctpal also applies to conditions which may
require dry decontamination Vacuuming will produce less dispersal of the product versus dusting
or scraping while also containing it
The wading pools will be utilized for decontaminating the hazardous matenals response team
members The members need to have their own decontamination comdor set up in the event of
an emergency requinng the immediate removal of the member from their suits This sepazate line
will allow for the normal processing of the patients and reduce the chance of cross contamination
between the entry team members and the pahrnts
The SSTP-350 and SSTP-100 sample, shipping boxes are IATA approved for transport on boazd
an aircraft. These boxes will be used to secure samples or evidrnce that need to be shipped to a
certified laboratory for diagnostic testing.

4) Personal protective eauioment
a Chemical resistant boots
b Tychem TK-Level A sorts
c Tyvek coveralls
d 60-minute SCBA units
e 60-minute SCBA spare cylinders
f Boot covers
The additional SCBA units and spare cylinders listed would enable additional personnel to make
entry for moving patirnts out of the contaminated area and to assist in decontamination. They will
also make more personnel available for rehabilitation and gatheivig of samples and evtdrnce
The issuance of individual parrs of boots, suits, gloves, SCBA and boot covers would allow each
team member to have a set of equipment ready to respond in the event they are needed at a scene
located in a remote or distant site The equipment can then be placed to individual geaz bags for
quick deployment. The issuance of a pair of boots to each personnel are for sanitary masons as
well
The tyvek coveralls will be issued to victims after decontamination for reasons of modesty,
protection from the rnvironmrnt and idrnhficahon through visible recognition.
