AGING <br />AGING <br />Program Objectives (continued) <br />Transportation. To enable 1,150 older persons to attend a congregate meal site three <br />to five days per week, and shop for food and personal necessities at least once a week <br />by providing 17,000 units of transportation To enable 1,000 older persons to have <br />access to medical, health, and other community resources by providing 33,000 units <br />of transportation services. <br />Volunteer Services. To enhance the mental and physical health of 994 persons 55 <br />years of age and older by providing them with meaningful volunteer opportunities <br />Ninety percent of volunteers responding to an annual RSVP evaluation will indicate <br />that they enjoy their volunteer work, feel that they are being productive, and/or are <br />appreciated Volunteers will provide 130,000 hours of volunteer service to the <br />commumty <br />Program Highlights <br />The Hawaii County Office of Aging is committed to developing a system of quality <br />home and community-based care to meet the needs of a diverse elder population. <br />Major services funded will be: Personal Care, Homemaker, Chore, Home -Delivered <br />Meals, Adult Day Care, Case Management, Congregate Meals, Assisted Transportation, <br />Transportation, Legal Services, Nutrition Education, Information and Assistance, <br />Outreach, Residential Renovation, Education and Training, Caregiver Support, <br />Employment, and Volunteer. <br />For the period October 1, 2001 — September 30, 2003, the Office of Aging will place <br />emphasis in areas of Community -Based Planning, Training and Education, Kupuna Care <br />Development and Caregiver Resource Center Expansion <br />
