H. SHIPMAN/GATEWAY SHOPPING CENTER - KEA`AU
I oppose additional, unnecessary and destructive development as shown by the

proposed Gateway Shopping Center for Kea`au.

As Hilo already shows, the skeletons of abandoned shopping centers, dead strip
malls, and shattered down towns are strangling cities and villages alike.
Yet another shopping center is proposed for Kea`au which repeats, once again
what anyone who will look can see ...another perfectly functional shopping
center to be destroyed, abandoned FOR WHAT?
COUNCII-MEMBERS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION.
AN OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE RATHER THAN DESTROY.
TO CONSERVE RATHER THAN ABANDON.
A core of planning/implementation systems is an ability to assess future
pragmatics thereby minimizing unintended consequences rising from both
unexamined assumptions and emergent as well as existing contingencies.
~ c ~ Comm.
