I am a social worker with Child Protective
Services (CPS) in Hilo, and moat recently in Pahoa. I have been
working at CPS for ten years in my current capacity.
During the past four years I have worked directly and/or indirectly
with the VACA employees. I have found them to be very effective in
working with our many child victims.
The VACA employees have been responsive to our children's needs.
They are very skilled at working with our children and their
familys in the least invasive manner, always demonstrating a
concern for minimum traumatization.
With County Council funding, the VACA unit will continue to protect
our children and hold offenders of children accountable. Please
support the VACA unit as a permanent unit.
Si cerely,
HJft. C~~C.~.1n,
John Ashton, Social Worker
