Engelhard, P&R Director <br /> Re: Waimea firails &Greenways Project <br /> Communication No. 152 (Bill Nos. 42 & 43) <br /> Please'be informed that the Waimea Trails &Greenways Project is being funded on <br /> an 80% Federal-20% County cost share basis. <br /> To date, Federal funds totaling $313,644 have been allocated for the planning and design <br /> phase of the project. <br /> The funding requested from the Parks Dedication Fund is for the County's share of <br /> supplemental planning-and design services, which are needed to plan and design a <br /> donated 8-acre site that will function as a trailhead. This donation was unexpected and not <br /> part of the conceptual plan that was prepared by Waimea Main Street. Nevertheless, this <br /> donation provides the opportunity to develop a makai trailhead. <br /> The supplemental services are also needed to provide an alternate equestrian trail <br /> alignment, due to liability concerns raised at community meetings. <br /> Any unexpended funds from the Parks Dedication Fund allocation will be directed to the <br /> County's share of future construction costs. <br /> <br /> Thank you for your support of this project and I hope that the above answers the questions <br /> you raised on our request. <br /> ~F l ~ .2 . <br /> a <br /> T ~ <br /> ~~f.~~ iviP, <br /> r <br /> kf.
