COUNTY OF HAWAII
HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL
PROGRAM AND BUDGET REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE
Fiscal Year 1997-98 (FY98)
DEPARTMENT: HAWAII COUNTY OFFICE OF AGING

A. PROGRAMS
1. Identify new goals and objectives reflected in your FY98
budget and rationale and authority for implementation.
Although our goals remain the same, new objectives
will be to:
a. Work with managed care organizations in linking
seniors with appropriate health care services.
Rationale: The federal government has
implemented "managed care" initiatives to reduce
the high cost of health care. The mc{jor impact of
these initiatives will be felt at the community level
where older people can receive services at the least
cost. The Office of Aging must work closer with
managed care organizations to ensure that
programs are available to accommodate an influx
of new participants.
Authoritv: The Older Americans Act of 1965, Title
III.
b. Revise and print 7,000 copies of our Information
and Services Directory and 5,000 copies of our
Partners in Eldercare Directory.
Rationale: It is more important than ever that
people who need services know where to obtain
them; and for people who provide services to know
what other services are available for an individual
in need.
Authoritv: The Older Americans Act of 1965, Title
III.
