No. 40-01 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 2:55 p.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 40-01, transmitted <br /> by Mayor Harry Kim per Communication No. 96, dated January 12, 2001, regarding the <br /> naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 40-01 authorizes the approval of the street names for the roadways within <br /> <br /> the Pa`auhau Village, Hamakua, Hawaii. <br /> The Planning Commission at its December 15, 2000, meeting approved the names for the <br /> roadways in Exhibit "A" as follows: <br /> Pa`auhau Street - after the ahupuaa (place name), literally <br /> meaning tribute enclosure <br /> Ho`olauna Loop - meaning to be friendly <br /> Ho`olauna Place - meaning to be friendly <br /> Ho`olapa Lane - meaning to form a ridge <br /> Ho`omau Street - meaning to continue the tradition <br /> Ho`ou`i Street - meaning to beautify <br /> Ho`olokahi Street - meaning to make peace and unity <br /> Pua`olena Street - meaning the °olena flower, the flower of the <br /> turmeric <br /> Ho`olaua`e Street - meaning to cherish, as a beloved memory <br /> PC-14 <br /> <br />
